Advice for Presenters at the Angel Capital Summit

You’ve made it this far because you’re good. Your coach has selected you because he or she personally believes in you and your business.

Your presentation is important. It’s your moment to share your Company with the angel investors.

Every presentation has an explicit purpose and an implicit purpose.

Your explicit purpose is to pique the investors' interest: to explain why your company is worth investing in. This is dollars and cents information that should be framed to appeal to your listeners. Write a one sentence purpose statement that explains why your company is worth investing in.

Your implicit purpose is to capture the investors' hearts and imaginations. To do this, demonstrate confidence and passion. Tell a compelling story, give an example of how your product or service fits a unique need, paint a picture of the world as it will be when your company reaches its potential.

Recognize that you won’t have time to say everything. Before the ACS, run through your presentation at least three times out loud, timing yourself. Cut anything that doesn’t support your implicit and explicit purposes.

This may mean you'll have to cut some really good stuff. But if you do a good job with your presentation, you'll have a chance to go through those issues later with some very interested investors.
